These new Extended Charging Handle for AKs from Circle 10 AK will allow clearance for usage with Magpul Zhukov folding stocks. Made with 1018 steel, these charging handles are 35 mm in length and cost $24.95.
Circle 10 AK and Manticore Arms have teamed up to design the Circle 10 AK/ Manticore Arms Flush Fit side fold adapter. This unit fits side folding trunnions with 4.5mm pins, usually found on side folding Bulgarian AK74s. The tube has a cut out that permits adjustable AR15 stocks to be folded flat against the side of the receiver, OVER your side mount optics rail. Tube is MILSPEC diameter, and comes with a storage compartment which is sealed by a screw in cap. Price is $139.95.
This new optic from Primary Arms is called the “7.62×39 300 BLK 3x Compact Scope” but don’t let the name confuse you. It’s ideal for the AK. It uses the highly touted ACSS bdc which offers quick ranging, wind holds and moving target leads. Accurate even up to 400 to 600 yards. (See this video from AKOU using this scope at 500 yards). The etched reticle requires no illumination and there are 12 brightness settings powered by a CR2032 battery. It comes with a standard 1913 Picatinny mount. We’re told it’s quite durable and is designed to handle 7.62 recoil and varied weather conditions. The finish on this scope is excellent it looks a lot more expensive than the $259.99 price point. Comes with a 3-year warranty. We tried it out on the range and loved it. Available directly from Primary Arms.
I don’t normally mention rifles in this new products column but the Vepr 12 Gauge shotgun, is an exception because it’s not going to be available in the foreseeable future. Molot products are now on the banned list so after dealers sell the inventory, that’s it. This semi-auto shotgun is imported from the Molot factory in Russia. Based on the RPK standard, the Vepr 12 shares the same characteristics of legendary reliability. (I own an VEPR 7.62 x 39 rifle and can tell you they are incredibly reliable).
The fire control group allows for semi-automatic shooting and the safety is an improved version of the standard AK safety selector. Additional features include: The ability to insert magazines straight into the magazine well (AR style) without the need to cant the magazine (AK style); RPK style Windage adjustable rear sights; Windage and elevation adjustable front sights integrated to the gas block; Picatinny rail incorporated into the hinged dust cover (allows optics mounting); and chrome lined chamber, barrel, gas block, and bolt carrier operation rod for increased corrosion and wear resistance.
All Factory Manufactured: Polymer pistol grip, polymer lower handguard and upper handguard, fixed tubular buttstock with cheek rest and sling loop, competition magazine well, factory 5-round magazine, RPK style windage adjustable rear sight, hinged dust cover with a Picatinny rail, original AK enhanced safety lever (single finger operation), factory chrome lined barrel, chamber, receiver shaft, and gas chamber, factory last round bolt hold open, factory threaded barrel, factory machined bolt assembly, and gas blocks.
(The VPR-12-02 comes with all the necessary folding mechanism components / hardware, including machining the opening on the left-side of the receiver. The VPR-12-02 can be converted to a folding stock shotgun by having a competent gunsmith machine off the weld and install the 922r compliant parts.)
All modifications to the shotgun should be done by competent gunsmith. Made using only new mil spec. parts.
VPR-12-02 is shipped with one 5-round magazine
Despite (or because of) their large (40 round) capacity, these magazines have proven to be quite popular for 7.62x39mm AKs. These are Russian military surplus magazines manufactured by Molot, the company that manufactures VEPR. Priced at $27.95. this represents a good value. They are available from Circle 10 AK. Circle 10 AK says their conditions range from fair to good. Expect varying degrees of rust and pitting due to years of storage overseas.
