Rob began his communications career with the San Francisco Chronicle Foreign Service as a “stringer”. He has worked as a radio news reporter and a contributor to a wide number of publications including the Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, Newsday, San Jose Mercury News, Honolulu Star-Advertiser and many others. After publishing two well-received travel guides on Fiji and Tahiti for the Lonely Planet series, he shifted his career to public relations. He worked for twenty years in Silicon Valley representing a variety of high tech startups in the areas of telecommunications, software and hardware.
Seeking a more tropical clime, he moved to Hawaii and created On Target Hawaii, a firearms news and reviews blog for Hawaii Reporter, a general interest publication based in Honolulu. The column has rapidly gained influence with the AK rifle community around the nation.
Rob regularly attends SHOT and has participated in local Bullseye and Silhouette matches in Hawaii. He also enjoys shooting the AR 15 and AK-47.
In addition to writing, he has an eclectic array of interests which include yoga, Jungian Psychology, nutrition and cooking. He spends a great deal of time gardening, tending to his plantation on the slopes of Wilhelmina Rise in East Honolulu.
